Default B20A in a 90 civic si?

just curious; would this swap work and what would be involved?

I have the option of getting a b20a engine with a jdm bottom end and a usdm head + 2 transmissions + driveline + electronics + other crap for $400. From what i read about the b20a its not the greatest engine in the world but its still a bigger engine than a d16a6 (what i have now). I'll keep my greddy turbo kit on it also and i want to keep all my obd0 electronics. Also will the distro be compatible with a pm6/ps9 ecu?

I dont even know if the 'lude si tranny is a cable or hydrolic, and if its hydrolic will another b-series tranny fit the b20a? also what about motor mounts? will the regular b series mounts work?

I have heard that the Lude motor you want to put in is the worthless motor Honda made. Also, I do not believe that it is a true B-series motor so I don't think it will work the way you want it to.

correct.... not only that i dont think that motor will fit under the hood, **** it bearly fits under the hood of a Lude, they had to tilt the motor 20 deg to get it to fit in there...

stick with a Z6....

the Lude has a hydo, cable shifted tranny (CRX/civics have rods)....

cool; will do i guess!
I really wan't a CR-VTEC but i may can find a b18c1 + tranny for ~ $1500.

but it really doesn't mattter; i'm broke. i'll probably wnd up throwing another a6 piston in my car to get it running and then finally sell my 300z and go from there.

fit is not a problem with my hasport mounts and crvtec into a 1987 crx which is a LOT smaller.

btw, with too small injectors and no portmatching of the intake to tb it just went 218 whp on dyno with 153 ft lb. torque

There is a company that can machine a b20a block to take a REAL b-series head. But its very expensive and not worth the time nor cost. Don't waste you money on it.

Agreed

Any time you do a search for B20A there is always one guy on the tread who wants to tell you about a CRV engine.

For those that don't know. A B20A is from a Prelude. It is not anywhere near the same as a B20B or B20Z from a CRV. A B20A is kind of like a stroked B18A except it shares no parts with any of the other B engines. And if the info I've picked up on here is correct the trans bolt pattern and motor mounts are different too.

You know you wish you would have spent that money in a better place... like maybe a D16A turbo.

I don't consider built-in fireworks to be a good thing.

i have a d16a6 turbo......

it sucks....... I'd kill for a B series but all the ricers have driven up the cost of b series engines to the roof so that won't happen for a while.
I'll try to find a nice D16Z6; build it up with forged internals; a drilled to hell block guard; homemade port/polish (i have a friend who's dad builds dirt track/drag racing engines); etc etc...

that'd be a pretty mean D series right there
