Ummm...as far as Cali goes the engine has to be from the same year as the car or newer. But try searching the site.

that person if they do pass it illegally, can face up to an 10,000 dollar fine, a felony charge, and up too 5 years in jail (in california atleast). i don't think that extra 20 will cause a person to take that risk, oooo ya also that place of business gets shut down and the owner can never have a smog station

if the b16 is a 97-00 is will pass emissions becasue both the car and the motor would be obdII i had to talk to a california refreein sacramento, the year of the motor matters as well as theyear of the car. to find the year of the motor look right under the valve cover ont he block and on the left hand side it should say 2 numbers like 9 7
and that will tell you the year of the motor

Considering that is ILLEGAL! here in Va. And the shop can face a 10k fine, numerous years in jail and the SHOP loses thier liecnese and that is a lot of business going away for a shop here in NOVA.

That is stupid info that just gets people in treble. Being a Emissions inspector myself if someone did that i would say no your barking up the wrong tree i like my money and my job go somwhere else and try to ruin someone else's life.
