Default B20/Vtec ?'s please help!

Okay I have a b20 block with je 84.5 11.5:1 pistons, eagle rods, arp rod bolts, and an Si head. I have heard from people that you should bore the combustion chamber, but the je pistons have a recessed lip around the edge which supposedly makes up for that. The guys at the machine shop told me that i should not bore the combustion chamber because i will lose compression, just wondering if anyone else has done this on a b20/vtec conversion. Also, how important is it to use a block girdle?

The JEs will fit the stock 81mm chambers on that head.
