I did a search and nothing turned up. I have a 95 Ls SE, I want to swap a b18c1 in, but ive heard that Ls VTEC is faster with supercharger or turbo? Whats your thoughts. Im open for any replies.

And LS VTEC can be faster than a b18c, yes. But it's all in how you build it. You have to do a lot of research and build it right ($$$) to make it work. Obviously a super/turbo charged anything will be faster than an NA version. This question is really to general to answer...

Well you suck at searching if nothing came up for ls/vtec.

Here is my reply before this gets locked.

Turbo your motor. That will be the cheapest and easiest way to make power for you.

Yea, search in the ARCHIVED posts. That's where all the information lies. Damn newbies!

LS vtec with turbo is probably the fastest setup u will get. the other option is getting a K20 type s motor and then turboing that, which is basically something totally different from what u had in mind i assume.

Just do LS Turbo build-up (like me), VTEC is over-rated.

The best setup for a turbo is low compression and no extra variables (aka VTEC, VVTI, ect ect, anything that will basically add a double boost effect).

Just my 2 cents anyhow...

If it were me, I'd sell the engine and swap in an H22. But of the previously listed options, an LS turbo would probably be the simplest and most cost effecient.

I would do a turbo h22 setup, H22's can be had for like 2 grand these days. That's probably not the answer you are looking for though. GSR swaps run what, 3500? That's about the cost of a turbo kit and it will get you 3+ times power increase over going from ls->gsr. PLUS a turbo is much funner to play with than VTEC, trust me.

The guys around here have had nothing but trouble trying to turbo K20s.

It really depends on what you want. I have owned 2 LS's, a 2nd gen Gs-R with a b17 and a 2nd gen turbo with a B18c . All of them had different personalities. All were fast and I enjoyed them all. Whatever you do, don't let someone else tell you what you need. I did that with turbo. I didn't really want it, but I let h-t and a load of others convince me thats what I wanted. Now I am trying to sell it. Not because it isn't fast, reliable, or anything, but because I would prefer a simplar setup for the time being. Be sure you research the maintenance requirements for whatever setup you choose. Also be sure that the people giving you advice are giving you advice based on personal experience. Other than that, be sure to have fun! :D

I have an ls that I plan on turboing (next year tho probably). I'm choosing this way because I used to own a turbo car (volvo) and I've driven my friends wrx and turbo is loads of fun to drive. As for the milage of your motor, if all of the owners have taken good care of the car it shouldn't be too much of a problem but to play it safe you can upgrade the internals, but of course that's more money that you will need to save/spend.

i would stay with the ls and rebuild the bottom end and drop the turbo in there, remember turbo ls are great motors to turbo, many people in here have had many success with them, and make as much in some case more torque than gsr turbo, and def more than b16 turbo.

If you did the ls/vtec you would have to rebuild anyways. Basic rebuild would just be piston rings, rod bearing, and maybe crank bearings if you are worried about them. Keep your motor and turbo or buy another and build the intenals and turbo then swap the rebuilt ls for yours and sell yours on ebay or keep as a spare motor.
