Well I'm about ready to start my first engine build. Like anyone I'm nervous as crap about getting it all together again correctly, but I plan on taking my time and in the end it should be fun/good experience.

However I will be needing some basic machine work done and I'll a little nervous about sending it out to local Alabama machine shops.

I will be needing the following:

1. Bore and hone.
2. Crank balancing and micro polish (micro polish probably not nessecary but I'd like to have it done anyway)
3. Rods reworked after installation of ARP rod bolts (pretty sure I have to do this).
4. Pistons put on rods.
5. Head checked over, new valve seals, and installation of my new valve springs and retainers.

I'm most concerned with someone touching my head. Mainly because the last time I had a local machine shop touch it I had major problems. The head sealed good but I was running MAJORLY lean with the same tune and no other changes. I'm not sure if they shaved too much or what but it just put a bad taste in my mouth.
