Default which octane gas?

It doesnt make to much sense... On my 95 Si lude it says "premium only" or whatever.. with a compression of 9.8:1 I didnt really think this was necessary... should i go for 89 or 93 octane gas?

There are obviously more variables than compression ratio, but it is one of the more important factors.. among things such as piston design(hotspots), combustion chamber size(bore vs stroke), etc...

what do you think?

or your car will run like poo

agreed. 91 or up your car will run like 'poo' with less than 91 in it.

you bought a performance car (maybe not the most exotic one in the world, nonetheless, a performance car which we all love), the engineers who designed it took a lot of things into consideration, one of them, the best octane for it and its performance....put premium in it, you and your car will be happy...

anyways gas is already expensive, spend the extra nickel or dime a gallon and give your car what it REQUIRES...it says premium for a reason...

Hey guys, I heard this straight from the source HONDA Dealer.

I know this guys really well and he works at honda and told me that after all these yrs of research they found that 90 octaine is the best. 91-93 is a little too much because it's burning too much and you're valve and piston will get worn out.

He's not trying to sell me anything so I think he's not for real. Oh and by the way this is for relatively stock motors, not a 250hp+ to the wheels motor. But I think I/H/E should stick with this diet.

Hey if you guys wanna know more try calling up honda and see what they say. I not 100% sure so if you guys do then let everyone here on HT know. Thanks bro.

just as long as you don't run it into high rpms, your car won't detonate and running lower octanes will be ok.

It's because it's a high output DOHC motor...don't run less than 91...no real point in running anything above 91 though

stick to 91 octane, do what the manual says.

honda probably did a lot more testing and measuring on this kind of thing than any of us ever will...

9.8:1 is still fairly high, and usually compression goes up slightly with age as carbon deposits accumulate on top of the piston.
