Default Greddy Blue Box with Vafc II. Vtec Problems.

Ok Narrow throttle and everything works great. But when it engages Vtec it immediatly hesitates. a/f gauge doesnt move, still showing 2 bars rich (Autometer a/f) no matter which way i take the fuel either +50 or -50 nothing changes? Seems to have plenty of fuel, Which i have the 310cc in and i have rc 550's in case and holly 255 pump. Any help on why i cant get it to burn thru vtec? I also have the msd 6btm and if I retard the ignition at all it chokes up???? my diagnostic shows 31 advanced timing? and again if i retard it only breaks up? Any help?

take off the vafc, it wont work well with the blue box. I'm pretty sure thats your problem.

I know your probably not trying to be a jerk but thats what my previous post was to do was eliminate these wasted responces.

I dont considerate a Hack, The hack is used Without the Blue Box. The bluebox gets me past the map sensor and some other obsticles im told, so i only need the vafc II to help out the blue box which is programed rich at 6psi. obvioulsy im lokoing to boost closer to 12-14. But im having trouvle as stated with my vtec, and im not to sure on why.

I have Crower stage 2 cams springs and retainers w/ Stock valves. and again the a/f isnt showing lean so i dont want to install the 550's quit yet.

Anyone??????? PLEASE?????

The blue box is designed to do 2 things: hide boost from your ECU and dump a ton of fuel under boost.

While the AFC can be used to do a number of things, the HACK is designed to: Hide boost from your ECU and CONTROL fuel, not add it. Typically it is used to lean out bigger-than-stock injectors (like 440s, etc).

Problem 1: you have two systems trying to hide boost from the ECU. Which one do you have spliced into your MAP sensor wire? Your problem of the AFC not doing anything no matter the setting could be because you dont have it hooked up to the MAP. If you have both hooked up I would think that is a bad idea.

Problem 2: You have a system on there that you should be using to lean out bigger injectors along with a system that is designed to make your injectors dump as much fuel as they can when you hit boost. I think this is self explanatory

Here is my suggestion. Take off the blue box. You stated that you already have bigger injectors (although I was a little confused as to what size and if they were in the car yet), so just hook up the AFC correctly and use them to lean out your injectors. Also, if you used the AFC to change your VTEC point, change it back to stock to see if it helps.

Ok, I am running 310s currently till i understand more of whats going on here I do have (RC 550's NOT INSTALLED). I have a few questions regarding all of this. I read that enourmouse post about the vafc stuff but that doesnt help me much with the blue box. This is my thinking. (Again im no tuner just trying to get by with what i have).

So instead of using the HACK, why not use the blue box to hide the boost which is hooked into map wire with vafc hooked up as instructions say, And now i should be able to use the vafc for what it is, A fuel control unit. But with your statement im thinking shouldnt i hook up the blue box to hide boost from the vafc which will in turn hide boost from the ecu?

the blue box can't control bigger injectors, if u run the afc hack u have to run bigger injectors and it will run ok

That won't work, becuase the bluebox and the vfac don't like to work togather it's been done, and it just doesn't work, so u have to pick 1
BLUE BOX (STOCK Injectors)
VFAC (HACK) Search for more info on that

I am not a huge fan of the hack, i would of gone with a hondata or urberdata or ran like 7 to 8 psi on all stock motor with the blue box and tuned via fpr, so the fuel isn't so much

Uberdata
Hondata $$

Vafc is just a piggyback and will only tune your fuel curve but wont do anything for you Ignition.. that is one of the reasons i switched to a standlone unit..

I was running the greddy kit with a vafc and a blue box , but the vafc was not doing anything when i started to lean it out at top end... since the blue box was making the car run close to a 9:1 mixture... it did hisitate at part throttle..

I would sugguest you throw those 550's in and run a vafc hack to tune you fuel down at idle. But i would highly recomend Uberdata or Hondata..
Here is a link on some Hack info...

your other problem is your trying to read a/f output with a meter that isnt reading correct a/f so for all you know you could be pig lean .

your reading narrowband output , you need to be reading wideband . you need something to convert the signal. IE a wideband controller

Ok so should i buy a wideband? Im under the impression most dyno shops have them to install. I want to get one solid street strip map and leave it at that.

If you are looking for a good street wideband at a good cost get a TECH_EDGE 2.0 wideband
