Default Turbo for H22a

I have a 1996 prelude with a JDM h22a, intake, and exhaust. That is all I have done, no internal work. Would turbo be a good idea? What would be the best turbo for this engine? I am wanting to spend around 1500 - 2500 on a full turbo kit with intercooler, but if there is a good one for less I will take it. I am thinking about only running like 6-8 psi, so I dont need a turbo for 1,000,000 psi boost on the turbine. Any other suggestions that I should do to my car please tell me. I am still trying to get it in good shape. What do you think this would bring me for hp, tq, and 1/4 mile time. Anything will be appriciated.
Thanks

First of all, I would not turbo the engine w/ only having intake and exhaust. The H22a's have a 10-6-1 compression ratio stock, and adding a turbo w/o doing any internals to lower the compression would mess up that j spec motor in no time. Think of it this way, if you were to bench press for the first time would u rather have to put up 100lbs or 300lbs? and which one is going to be easier on your muscles?

IMO i would take that money that you were going to invest in a turbo and buy a good header ( i'd get either Greddy stainless steel, or the Kamakazi ), test pipe, plugs and wires ( NGK or MSD ), either a chipped or tuned upgraded ECU, and a basic NOS kit w/ purge valve (only run a 50shot!!! w/o internals done you're risking a blown JDM motor when u go over a 50 shot ). This all totals around $1800 and depending on how well you drive and how well your engines running, you should be hitting high 13's low 14's w/ everything i've listed.
That's the setup I have right now ( im still in the process of installing the nitrous ) and i've got the USDM vtec.

I hope this has helped you out, if you have any more questions my email is lude92racer@yahoo.com or you can just pm me

I thought u said a goog header, get AN-R or Hytech. And as far as a turbo "L Orange Tuning" has a H22 Civic thats been running a turbo at 9psi for a year now with no reported problems. Thats also w/ ALL stock internals and fuel system. And oh yeah, they dynoed 314 hp at the wheels!

There are plenty of people on here that are running turbo H22s with completely stock internals with no problems, and I'm one of them. You can boost an H22 on stock internals no problem, as long as you have some engine managment.

If I were you, I would just put togeather your own kit. I would recommend a T3/T4 turbo, and then decide what kind of power you want to make and figure out the specs you want for the turbo. You can easily find a manifold for the H22 and intercooler.

Check out the forced induction form, you can prob find more info.

but if he's tryin to boost later then why would he buy headers?? that doesn't make sense...i think u should jus work on the head and sleeve the block get a thicker head gasket and some low compression pistons and some rods then boost..i'd rather have to buy somethin once then buy parts that later on i'll have to change anyways if i'm boostin

If you only have $2500 to spend, why are you going to buy a cheap *** kit for your nice motor? engine management +tuning is going to be like half of that. Plus most kits go for atleast $3000 with no tuning or management. Good luck. Seriously, if your going to do it, do it right.
