whats the best tire to buy?
ive searched around and i have gotten mixed responses on what kind of tires to buy, from the azenis' to the yoko's.
What is the best one to get that will last? i know the azenis has a 200 rating only. Which means crazy tire wear.
Im looking for a tire thats sticky, but will last long.
thanks guys

you're looking for a golden elephant there. sticky naturally implies short tread life. some tread designs promote more grip than others, but for the most part, the compound is more important to a tire's overall grip.
also remember that treadwear ratings are all relative. a bridgestone 200 vs a toyo 200 is not the same. with that in mind, azenis will last you about 15,000 miles on the street, TW 200, where the re92's will last you 40,000 but have a treadwear of 160 (maybe that was a tirerack typo, but you see my point).
long lasting decent wearing tire? what other things do you need out of your tire? wet traction, sidewall rigidity, all-season? i'd suggest the GY f1-gsd3, because i think they last a decent amt, or at least that's what F1 owners have been saying. another tire to consider is the kumho712. it may not last 50,000 miles, but at that price u definitely get your bang for the buck.

The ALL kumho's SUCK except for thier MX's.. plain and simple, they're not worth the money. I bought Potenza RE730's after my 712's and it was night and day difference. Then I bought Azenis Sports, again a huge difference. It took me a long time to finally decide to get the Azenis'. I was also thinking the GS-D3's, but ended up with these, and I don't regret it. They're damn good tires, and sticky as all hell. Heh, first thing you notice is the 50 billion times more sand/rocks that are on the road that they pick up and throw under the car, you'll notice it the first 100ft you drive, I did.

Go Azenis'!</TD></TR></TABLE>
i'm not sure he wants azenis since he's concerned about treadwear. if you wanted a sticky 20,000 mile tire i'd have tons of suggestions. but if you want value out of your tires, then all i can really suggest is the kumhos. i was lucky and picked up my pirelli pzeros for 80/tire on sale, and i think they were a steal, but i think in the 205/50/16 size they're back up to around $120/tire now.
