Burning oil need help
I've been burning oil bad for a while and most of the time it would make a cloud after I had been down shifting so I automatically thought it was the valve seals. I was taking apart my engine cause I'm getting it set up for turbo and noticed that there was no oil at all in the intake ports. Can valve seals leak without leaving an oil mess in the ports? I have forged JE pistons and have a funny feeling that maybe the piston to wall clearance is not tight enough. There is no scoring on the walls and I haven't taken the pistons out yet for measurement. Does anyone think it could still be the valve seals. BTW all of the cylinders were leaking bad.
how long have you been running those pistons and rings? are they standard bore or oversized pistons?
you may have bad valve seals but bad seating rings could cause quite a bit of smoke too......

The exhuast valve seals could leak also bypassing the engine and the oil going straight into the exhaust. Do you have piston slap? If there's piston slap, there may be too much clearance causing the oil burning.
I just took the pistons out and checked the clearance they were all .003 piston to wall. The rings all looked good and so did the cylinders i'm stumped. Could the PCV system be dumping into the intake for some reason. Also there was no sigh of oil in the intake manifold. Is there any posibility that valve seals or PCV may be dumping oil into the intake without being able to see any oil residue? Any advice would be appreciated.
