Im painting block/tranny. Not head or any exhaust pieces.

And i got the temperature paint for painting engine blocks. its rated to 500 deg Farenheight.

I ment to get the 1200 stuff for exhaust and stuff but i wasnt sure how well it would stick to alumimun since exhaust isnt aluminum.

But do these engines really get over 500?

No turbo or anything just a b18c with fan wired to come on whenever the car is on

500 degree should be fine, painted my stock header red for ***** and giggles and it stayed on there

When does the average thermostat open? 180?

Then the engine would run at 180 deg warmed up. So i cant see the block getting any hotter than that or anywhere neer 500
