Default Laser Cut JDM Valve Covers...not bad...

Ive seen alot of hack jobs with vavle covers when trying to expose the cam gears. Allthough I don't like the thought of the gears being exposed because I have heard some nightmare stories with objects getting in there this seem really nicely done.

B16

Type R

Civic Type R or so they claim...

I found the cuts to look really clean and considering I got a Hondata and some cam gears on order I might actually call these guys up... thought I'd share it with you guys...cheers.

That does look clean. Now all I would need is something to tune

just get an extra valve cover and hack off the total side section

you only need cam gears exposed during tuning.

otherwise you are just doing it for the bling factor

you can get a gsr/b16 valve cover for pretty cheap too

Exactly, Ive been using the same old b16 valve cover to tune my car for years now.

Not only do i use it, about 15 other people use it as well.

I guess some people just have to show they got cam gears

I dont think it has anything to do with Bling factor at all, i do agree many people do it for that reason. However from my prespective for a person such as myself who visits the Dyno quite often and escpecially now that I have a Hondata on order it really makes it easier for me to adjust the gears without having to remove the cover...

some people are just posers... all show no go... add lots of parts and they don't seem to care whether they make a difference or not! I get the feeling JOEP you are more show than go... in that case a pretty valve cover is right up your alley!

I think it would be more cost-effective to buy a second, used "beater" valve cover to cut and use during tuning. That way, when you aren't tuning, the belt and sprockets are completely protected, and your original valve cover remains unaltered.

Oops... Didn't see Rob's post.

Unless times have changed, or you're speaking of used parts, GS-R and Si covers were both far more expensive than ITR covers bought new from the dealer. Retail for a Hype R cover was around $150 when I bought mine (in '01 some time). GS-R and Si were both well over $200. For some reason, I want to say the GS-R one was $280.

I like to run a cut valve cover all the time, Its easier to check the cam gear bolts are tight (And yes, You should check them from time to time). I've had mines slip before.

I think he probably meant used, as I did. B16 and GS-R valve covers are normally very inexpensive on various used parts sites. I'd have trouble spending even $150 on a new valve cover just to cut it up.

If you drive an ITR, but a laser cut JDM valve cover and sell the stock red ITR one. You'll end up only spending about $30-50 on the difference.

is not worth the risk by exposing the timing belt , just to show of the cam gears ...

Heres a loner valve cover that I used when I tuned my b16a. I also cut it for the guy I borrowed it from.

Your going to cringe when you read this. But I used a table saw to slice it off. And it looks perfect. Just make sure you have a good carbide tipped blade and some earplugs. Cuz its going to screach like nothing you have ever heard before.
