HELP: snapped head off bolt
hey, i got this problem. im talking about the bolt for the rear shock, it attachs the shock to the lower control arm. well i was trying to take this bolt off to lower my friends car, and it was a little hard to turn, so i used the good ol' wd-40 and let it sit for awhile. i went at it again with a breaker bar and the damn head of the bolt broke off. i figured since the car has never been lowered before, it was rusted on. what the hell do i do now? the bolt is still in there and basically, stuck.
this happened to me everytime I had to change a EG suspension lol ... you have to remove the lower arm and you have to cut the nut whos already weld to your shock ... after this take a punch and a big hamme to get this bolt out off the bushing. Replace the nut you have cut by a new one... weld it if you can.
I always put a lot of grease on all the bolts of the suspension now
good luck !

Try to take off the lower control arm off. Which means the bolt for the lower strut and suspension area. After that, the lower control arm and shocks and springs should all come down. It should be easier for you to take that bolt off. Use a reciprocating saw (Dewalt) and make sure you get the saw blades meant for cutting METAL. Cut the bolt off where the bushing is next to the nut and it should pop off. Then you would have to drill out the leftover bolt that is attached to the nut and it should come off. Make sure you buy some extra drill bits.

I just did the same thing on my del sol while changing over to a new suspension. I didn't want to deal with the frustration of breaking it out so i'm having a shop get the bolt out
Of course this happened on the fourth one....GRRRR
