Default please help me out, finding rear bumper...

ok accord guys.. im asking for a little help, im never in this forum but need some answers from you all..

i recently was in a little fender bender and hit a friends 97 2dr honda accord.. i told her i would take care of it and not to call insurance or anything. only thing i need to fix on her car is the rear bumper. i was told that a 94-97 2dr bumper is the same.. well its NOT, cause i bought one, had a friend paint it and it didnt fit.. does anyone know if i was possibly told the wrong info and maybe i need a 94-95 4 door bumper instead of a 94-95 2 door bumper?? ive looked on ebay and bout to buy another one and dont want to get the wrong bumper..

so if anyone can cross reference the parts or anything PLEASE let me know.. i bought a 94-95 2 dr bumper and it did NOT fit her 96-97 2dr car.. thanks

Ya, i dont know where you live but here in washington we have this place aout 5 miles from my house and its a pure honda/acura junkyard, they every part you could ever think of.... so start there, you could prolly just go to a place and get one the right color too.

Just buy the bumper that goes to that car (97 2 dr bumper)

yes it is less hassle but some places that ive called to get a new one do not even carry a bumper for that year, that leads me to believe that it can be cross referenced w/ another year car...

I believe 94-97 4dr and 94-95 2dr bumpers are the same. But 96-97 2dr rear bumper is different, so you need a 96-97 only rear bumper.

Because it's a pain in the butt to ship a rear bumper. And I just double checked and 97 coupe will only take a 96-97 coupe bumper.

thanks alot man.. i appreciate it.. certifit's books are wrong cause they swear that a 94-95 rear will fit a 96-97 rear.. and also on ebay some people have it advertised 94-97 rear bumper, dont even list it as a different bumper..

The 94-95 bumpers are NOT interchangeable with 96-97. However, the 2 door and 4 door bumpers are interchangeable. The accord got different taillights in 96, the two piece kind, which is wider, and affects the bumper design. The 96-97 bumpers also have a cutout for the muffler tip, whereas the 94-95 do not.

Short answer: you need a 96-97 2 or 4 dr bumper if you want it to fit.

Not sure, I looked up the p/n in the Honda catalog and ran a will fit. 97 coupe rear bumper will fit a 96-97 coupe or 4dr but it looks like some 96-97 4dr bumpers won't fit the coupe. A body shop probably knows but I don't.

i test fitted it last week and if i remember right it was a little too short on the side where it connects to the fender and would sit on flush to the support either...
