shift gets stuck

shift gets stuck
i have a 90 accord ex AUTOMATIC TRANNY. when i put the shift to park then after a min try to take it OFF park and put it to drive it kind of gets stuck.
why does it do that? why is it hard to take the shift off the Park?

Probably a bad cable.

i checked the cable and it looks ok. now i can hear that it kind of grinds at the P place and i think it kind of gets stuck at the shift between the P and R.
how do i check for it.
i mean some times it does get stuck and some times it dont.
if i shift between the D3D2 D1 or to R the shift is very light. but when shift to R of SPECIALLY from R is very hard. specially when i shift from P .
