how can i tell if my ecu is jdm?
I have a p28 ecu. I'm guessing that because on my ecu it says "37820-P28-L01" So i'm assuming p28. Now, i have a b16a sirII and it came with a different ecu and got this one from a friend. I sold the other one and stayed with this one. My real concern is, if it is a usdm, will it matter? If not, cool. If so, I need to get a jdm one.
thanks
thanks
thanks for the reply... If it is USDM, then does it matter? I read some topics somewhere about jdm vs. usdm and that somethings might not work right. The car seems to drive okay, but it doesn't feel fast as it should. But that doesn't mean much. anyways, thanks. Anyone know if it matters?

You are running a B16 with a stock P28. The fuel and timing maps are way off. Get the P28 chipped properly or find a P30 ECU. http://www.pgmfi.org

I opened it up. There is a sticker in there on a chip that says, " 20020409MG" Then beneaht that it says that it has a 9500 rpm and 5700 vtec. So would this be okay for my motor?
thanks

Smell your exhaust and look for black soot on your rear bumper. I have seen the MUGEN fuel and timing maps. Research the program you have on http://www.pgmfi.org

thanks, i'll check it that way. I went to that site and I don't really understand what is going on. If i am running rich... all i could really do is go for a tune right?
thanks
thanks
If your plugs:
Black - your car is running rich.
White - your car is running lean.
Tan or light gray - your car is running perfectly.
* Some people like to run a little rich than other. It is a personal choice.
Well i know you guys are talking about OBD-I but for the image that the JDM ECU is smaller than USDM does not go for OBD-II the 2000-2001 ECU's right?
