Default Crimestopper any good?

So, im gettin a gsr. In california, these things get stolen 8 out of 10. So, i was searchin for a while now what alarm system to get.

The choices right now are criimestopper 2way pager lcd alarm, viper 791xv, and some clifford 2 way pager alarm. The crimestopper claims up to 3000 ft distance with the pager. The viper only less than half of that (1/4 mile).

I was wondering if crimestopper is a reputable alarm. It's only 130 on ebay or whatever. The viper is almost twice the price.

Also i was thinking about gettin an immobilizer. Clifford's immobilizer seems really cool. I dont know how the wireless one works. Does anyone know if those things can work with any other alarm systems?

I like crimestopper, never had a problem with their stuff, but like all lcd pager system, they break.

as for range, dont believe the hype, the easiest way is to ask the sales person if they have that in their car, or anyone who works there have one or maybe a buddy, and try it out. I personally like the 791 xv viper system. but I have been installing the prestige 996a into all of my customers cars.. that is also a nice system, very detailed.

i have had alot of bad luck with crimestopper. go with the clifford, its pretty much the same as the viper but its got a couple more options. plus the clifford lcd is back lit. the reason viper is twice as much is because its twice the alarm. i hate crimestopper.

ummmm no...Go with a DEI (directed) setup like Viper or Clifford, either that or compustar...

ESPECIALLY WITH A GSR!!! crimestopper is okay, but as always said a million times...you get what you pay for...

I love my viper...Great reception and barely any false alarms...I set up a hoodpin too, it was real simple...I'm going to have pics up soon and will post them if interested...

Price i meant.... twice the price.

What's a hoodpin?

I kind of want the extras like the immobilizer and crap like that. So that my car is even harder to steal. But then again, who doesnt want that?

Usually every alarm has the option for kill start, however it just cost extra to install for the extra work.

A hoodpin is like a long button that sits on the inside of your hood...If for some odd reason someone can get past the shock sensor, once your hood opens up it releases the button and automatically sets off the alarm...

It's a cool thing... Cuz remember, a true thief goes for the hood and the battery first...A crap thief smashes your window and steals whats laying around...If they want to do a quiet job, they will pop the hood and turn off your battery...
