Question about running just wastegate with no boost controller.
I'm setting up everything for my turbo project. All parts get here in a week, so I just want to sort out everything right now. I have a turbosmart manual boost controller, but I would rather not use it. I have a Tial 40mm wastegate on the way, but I dont know what bar spring comes with those. I was just thinking of buying a 1.2 or 1.3 bar spring which is approx. 17.40 psi and 18.85 psi. And for the base tune, just use the spring that comes with the wastegate which is probably around .5 bar. I really wouldnt need to change it, cuz im sure 18 psi will be enough for a while. What do you think?

Sry for the little amount of info. It is a volkswagen, but i'm on the honda-tech forums quit a bit. The motor is a VR6 with JE 83mm 9:1 compression pistons, and steel headgasket lowered to 8.5:1 compression. Motor bored from a 2.8L to a 3.0L. P&P head with heavy duty valve springs. DTA P8Pro standalone engine mang. Motor already has about 2500 miles, so its nicely broken in.
