Rattling at 2200 rpm. Help.
Sup y'all. I have a 99' GSR, and out of nowhere something started making a rattling sound. Kinda sounds like it's coming from the middle of my car. It only rattles at 2200 rpm, so I have no idea what it is. Could it be the heatshield on the cat? Or if it was wouldn't it rattle constantly? Anyone have any ideas? I'm gonna jack up my car and take a look under it later. Thanks.
Haha ****, oopz, i just realized i posted this in the civic/del sol forums, but if anyone can help it'd be appreciated!

No problem bro, just pm ''bauleycivic'' or ''ricey mcricerton'' or ''b18c5-eh2'' and ask them for a thread move.
Do you have a short shifter?
I think it could be your cat..probally the honeycomb looking **** is breaking off and causing rattling.
Again i'm not 100% sure
Goodluck though

Probably the heatshield over the cat! It will rattle as you pass through the rpm range on acceleration and through deceleration . Raise up the car on the driver side (use jackstands!), crawl under, unbolt the shield. You'll have to cut of the top half of the shield because the O2 sensor is in the way.

Have the same problem with my car. Took it to the mechanic and had a hole in the engine manifold; pretty exspensive to fix, looking at $1000. May want someone to check it out, just in case.

Was he talking about a hole in the exhaust manifold? If so, you could fix it yourself with a new header for more than half that price.

I am pretty sure they said engine manifold; and it was a pretty exspesive fix; I could be wrong though. Anywho; you should probably get it checked out for the hole possibly.
I have the same problem with my heatsheild on my JDM ITR header it rattles, I got a lil nervous also..... nice sig THEFiJiMAN, " I make Bryant Gumbel look like malcom X huh mothafucka" lol
