OK how the heck do you get those plastic sheaths off of the eabrake,
like the hard plastic part on the handle, and the soft boot underneath it??

Is there any way to do it without completely dismantling the ebrake assembly??

all you have to do is pull really really hard on the plastick handle. try wiggling it at the same time. it will come out sooner or later. as for the boot, it will be easy to take off when the handle is off. oh by the way, you will need to take the console off or arm rest if you have one.

What he said.. Pull on it and wiggle, It might be a bit hard the first time..

You dont have to remove the console to take that stuff off.. The rubber boot slips right out and you can just push it back in there tp put it back..

 

Isnt there a screw or something underneath it? Atleast thats what i always thought, i never took mine off so what do i know.

i thought the same...isnt there a ring clip holding it on there?

 

dude theres gotta be something holding that on.
I'm not the strongest guy, but the point of it coming off.. is definetely passed the point of me hurting myself

was tough to get good leverage though.. but still, you guys sure theres not something holding it on??

Where would this ring clip be? At the base of the handle??

I don't know maybe some cars have it.. My hatch didn't (maybe someone didnt put it back) and the handle came off the same way in my friends Integra.

Im not sure then.. Hopefully someone else can clear this up.. Or you can just go out and figure it out yourself.. Disassembling the interior of a Honda is not hard

 

If the e-brake handle cover thing ( ) is friction fitted, get it off with two hammers. (Just realized how that must sound. ) That's how I removed mine in my EJ8, which is friction fitted.

Separate the boot from the handle.
Get two hammers.
Place the "prong end" of one hammer--call it Hammer A--at the base of the e-brake handle.
Use the second hammer to hit Hammer A, which will remove the e-brake handle.

This worked for me in about 30 seconds and five or six hits. I used a rubber hammer to hit Hammer A to simply cut down on noise. Metal hitting metal would probably make my deaf *** even more deaf.

 

Im not for sure on that clip, i just figured something else had to be holding the handle on there.

I just yanked on both of my 92 civics and they just came out. Just twisted and pulled and wallah. There wasn't a clip on either of mine either

should be alot more force than my bitch *** can apply

 

The friction fitted theory seems right and im guessing mine came out easier than others since the more you use the ebrake, (pulling on the handle) the looser it gets..
