Which oil in D16Y7???
Hi!
I changed my oil few days ago and I used Shell Helix 10w40...
I'm not very happy with this oil despite the fact that I always used that and was happy until this one... it seems like it is bottled somewhere else and not Shell factory...
Would 5w30 be good enough for my car and which one do you propose?
The car was driven using Shell Helix 10w40 from the first day the car was bought... that's 8 years and 80.000 miles... will my car have any problems if I change viscosity from 10w40 to 5w30???
I do not race but I also do not drive my car like a woose... Anything below 4500 rpm is not exceptable in most cases so I drive 5500 majority of time except long journeys...
I change my oil every 4000 miles and every time I change the oil filter too (Honda OEM)...
Engine is stock D16Y7... which is the best oil for it???

That's what I was thinking too... and I think it will be Mobil1... just want to hear what others have to say about it...
My friend has Amsoil in his Mustang and is very satisfied with it... But Mobil1 is just more "out there"...

No.
when I first got my car I used castrol 5w30 for a while, I had always used castrol in the first couple cars I had then I used mobil 1 in the next 3 vehicles but when I got my honda I switched back to castrol cause I was tight on money and the mobil 1 was a lot more expensive. Now I'm using the mobil 1 5w30 and I have used that for over 60,000 miles, car has 145,000 miles now and I have had no problems whatsoever. Mobil 1 and Castrol are both great oils.
im not saying anything bad about anyone at all, but ive seen first hand what pennzoil does to dsm's, and its not pretty. i dont know if its the same for hondas, but dsm's and pennzoil do not mix.
