Neither. I change my oil every 5-6K miles and I'm using dino oil. Don't believe the 3K mile/3 month OCI. It's all a myth and just instated to sell more oil.
You can easily go 6 months without changing your oil. However, if you wanna be safe, just change your oil every 6 months.

I think the factory manual says every 7,000 miles. Most people do it sooner even though that 7k figure was set by the team of Honda engineers that designed our engines and others for a living. They know more about engine wear than we could ever know but most still ignore that figure.
If you do lots of short-distance stop and go driving, then oil changes every 3k miles is the way to go. Otherwise, you can get away with a change every 5k miles.
I change mine every 3k out of habit. Plus, I seem to burn 1/2 or 1 quart every 3k anyway.
Here's some great oil-reading material:

Yeah the manual says 7,500miles.
I do it every 5k just because of the oil consumption. I changed oils so maybe that will change.
The new Civic is 10,000miles or 1 year, filter @ 20,000miles. 1/2 that for the extreme conditions.
