My friend and I just installed the Drag III kit in my 97 LS. It hasn't been driven yet, but started up on jackstands to see how everything went.

It is way loud, sounds like a harley at idle. It seems as the wastegate is always open dumping exhaust out of the dumptube all the time. Is that supposed to happen or was the wategate hooked up wrong?

is the dump tube dumping into the atmoshpere or the downpipe? Is the down pipe hooked up to the exhaust? Try playing with the top port of the wastegate(adjust it) and see if that makes any difference...

 

hmm the wastegate should not be open at idle, it needs boost pressure for it to even open, and the spring on there is pretty stiff. I would look for an exhaust leak, thats probably what it is.

 

yup.. you probaly got an exhasut leak somewhere. Is the manifold bolted on tight? If yes then look for other leaks..

I don't think it's a leak. Is there supposed to be a gasket type deal between the turbo and the downpipe? I don't have one on there because none was supplied.

The sound I hear is exhaust coming out of the wastegate though. My friend who hooked it up hooked up both lines coming out of the Deltagate. I told him (I'm not sure, but I have heard of people on HT doing this) that one of the lines are supposed to be kept open, it is for a boost controller. Am I right? Would that cause the Harely type sound?

oh man I think i know what that is, Did he hook up a line going from the intake manifold to the side port of the wastegate?

 

generally... the top port is for a bc and the side one is for a vaccumm line to let the wg know when to open
