what causes rod knock?
hey guys, i have a y8 swap in my car that i did a few months ago. it was a great motor and still is, it burns no oil or coolant and runs very strong. recently though it has developed a knocking rod so im going to swap out the block. this motor has only 63K miles on it, what the hell would cause the rod to knock so soon. I changed the oil every 3 and didn't beat on it all that hard. What would cause it to happen?
i DID once have my crankpulley come off. i was driving rather enthusiastically down the highway then pulled off to get some gas, when i started it to leave my alternator belt was squeaking like crazy. i get out as its running and i notice the belt is no running straight back, its running diagonally. i shut the car off to investigate and the crank pulley was really loose!! the woodruff key fell out, i replaced it on the spot and got it all good. think i damaged the crank?
