Default Some one please help my injured R!!!

It all happened after I went through that horrible pot hole.....you know the sewer ones without the lid? Ouch!!!!
From now on, whenever I hit a reasonable sized pot hole, the right rear wheel will make a "Ka Bunk" noise that sounds as if my struts are going through the chasis.

The samething happens on my gf's GS. She also hit a bad *** pot hole and the samething happens with the right rear tire...destiny if you have to call it. Anyway, she took it to the dealer once, and the tech told her it was the loosen heat shields that made the noise and they took care of it. Which after a week, the same noise came back. Ever since then, my gf gets very paranoid of bad roads on the right side of the road and doing all she can to avoid hitting any more pot holes on the right side.

Anyone have similar problems and knows the cure? I hope nothing is wrong with the suspension cuz I got one more track day and AutoX to go next weekend. My car also rides weird in a way that it tend to bounce on unsmoothen roads like a luxury sedan, it's not sticking itself on the road anymore. I check the suspension by bouncing it and it seems fine.

Please enlighten me!

Sorry to hear that about your car and your girls car.

My wifes makes a nice clunk in the rear when driving and hitting smaller bumps but my friend "a mechanic" attributes it to a loosened or broken shock mount or something similar to that. Her car is a 92 Sentra with 90,000 hard miles on it though. We plan on doing something if anything when it really breaks or when we need new shocks. But, since it will probably be just a winter beater soon we have no plans of fixing it yet.

Anyways, the heat shield is probably NOT the answer. The heat shields make a tinny rattling sound at certain RPM's "I know, I've had this problem twice."

Anyway, Am I going to see you next Sunday 11/11 at the Palisades? If so We can jack it up and maybe Rodney can have a look to see whats wrong. We're bringing our jack since we'll be swapping our rubber.

Good luck, Sorry to hear this man, I know how you feel and sympathize you situation. I can't imagine driving around anywhere near NYC in my R, Those Roads SUCK!.

I hate it whe I hit an expansion joint while crossing a bridge at speed. It shakes the whole car and rattles my teeth...

Good luck, see ya soon,

A.

Sure, I'll be there on 11th, it's the last time around the year.

I hope it's not the shocks. If so, I am gonna have lots of problem when competing....

Grab your camera, go take a picture of the damned pot-hole. Take it to the city/county claims. They better pay for that kinda of chit.

LOL. If we can do that here in NYC...everyone is gonna be rich!
Nah....we are in debt and the city is 10 to the power of 10000 times more injured than my car. As a citizen, I ain't gonna bother them for this small matter.

If it's just the shocks, I'll buy another one. Anyone know how much it cost and does dealers carries them for ITR?

neo, could be a myriad of things....i'll take a look sunday. just make sure that if you grab the rear wheels and shake them, you do not get a clunk. if it clunks, you will not pass the basic tech at palisades. see ya.

Thanks Rod. Look forward to meet up with you guys on 11th. (Already 2nd month of 9/11, sigh...time flies rather quickly)

I'll have my car lift up and have my mechanic have a look, but they are no genius in suspension department...and I'll dig into my wallet for $60 for the alignment that I never performed on my car for 1 1/2 year now....I really need some word of comfort cause I have a lapping day on the 10th in LRP which I looked forward all year long. Hopefully my tires/suspension/skills can be ready for the "big bend" when I needed them the most.

Geez......Rodney. I was wondering who you are. But then the http://www.b18c5.com strikes me abit.
I think I spoke to you in Rye's Playland on the last event of NYR in 2000........that's great, I can ease a bit now, cause I ain't no social-machine when it comes to help by people I never met. Are you bringin your hybrid to Palisade? I would love to see it in action!

Have you checked the shock on the right rear to see if it's leaking oil?

Unfortunately No, He is not running the Hybrid,

But we are going to both run My R instead in SM class. Of course with a different race rim/tire combo for added surefootedness.

I too wish his car was running. It's such a nice example of an awesome EG hybrid done right! I've seen it and ridden in it but, never seen him race it or had the chance to drive it yet. Hopefully next spring it will all come together and He'll be taking lots of first places at the X.

See ya Sunday Neo, and be sure to preregister, the organizers like it when you do...
