i just installed gsr into my 96 civic hatch and i still have a stock exhaust system on it.....i noticed that when the secondaries open its louder than when my vtec engages....my old gsr hatch vtec was louder than secondaries...but maybe its cuz i had aftermarket exhaust...

 

i have a type r exhaust and my secondaries are still louder, even though its oem, its still 2.25 piping. but they got really loud after i installed an intake...

 

yea i got stock civic exhuast and aftermarket intake.....i hear vtec kick but when secondaries open , dat shiet loud!!

 

Sounds about right to me...I don't hear anything different when vtec kicks in on my GSR, but I definitely hear the secondaries open up. The noise from the secondaries is much more noticeably louder if you have any kind of aftermarket intake...

 

vtec is a louder kick when you have aftermarket cams, but in general/almost always the secondaries are louder then vtec.

 

That is normal. The secondaries opening will be noticebly louder than vtec.

 

your secondories are when your engine roars 5700 or 5800 anyways its suppose to be loud!
