Default Radiator Leaking

Ok the raditor in my 90 Integra GS is leaking fluid on the top right side of it. My question is, can I put some RTV or something on there to temporarily seal it so that I can drive it for 20 mi or so. Until I have time to get another radiator.

are you asking can you do it or will the RTV hold ?

Im not sure if it will hold ... do whatever patch you decide .. and fill it up and keep an Eye on the radiator overflow jug to see how much water your still losing ... your definately driving at a risk .. keep several gallons of water in the car and keep an constant eye on the temperature gauge.

Yea I read up on similar situations on other forums and the RTV will not hold. I was recommended to trying JB Weld. I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow.

Also, when I got home after the 20mi drive, my rad started steaming a bit just as I drove up my driveway. I noticed that my temp guage still read at normal. Is there something up with that or can this happen.

my radiator did the same thing. i drove with my car like that for a week. i just kept a jug of antifreeze in the car and put more in when it needed it. my temp gauge never moved to overheat. then i went with fluidyne.

use JB weld it will hold it together for a week or two if you really need it to but remember to clean the surface really well and if you have a little sand paper scratch the surface so it will grip better a jerry rig way to do it but it really works and would save you if you were stuck somewhere

It will only start to heat up when the water level gets to a low point ... when there isnt adiquate water transfering heat from the engine.

i would ride out with it spraying all in the engine bay .. .the hole could get bigger and you get stranded
