Default New to boards with some questions

Hey new to the boards. I smashed my 98 EX on some black ice this winter, I was going to swap in a obd1 sir2 this summer but oh well. I picked up a 97 dark green/tan interior GS-R from some old jewish guy who treated the cars appearence like hell, but kept the motor in excelent condiditon. I mean the thing is a 97 with 51k miles, regular oil changed, but the interior and exterior needs some work. I think I have one of those "freak" broken in motors cuz im dancing all over **** i used to fear before in my EX =O. Anyway I know a good deal about Hondas, but im new on Acuras. I joined this board in hopes to gain some valuable knowledge about my car. So first question is I know my car is OBD2, and i know its 3rd gen, but what years exactly include 3rd gen? Im going to be doing some shopping and i want to know if the 98+ (4th gen i beleive) Red/white taillights will fit my 97, i HATE amber turn signals. One more question my car has cloth interior, is 97 the only year cloth was made or was it an option on all integras? My passnger seat has a nasty rip in it and i need to see what years i can yank a tan cloth seat from. Thanks in advance!

First off, 3rd gen is 94-00 all of them. They just changed the front and back, and the tails on them. The tails should fit. They have cloth seats for all years. You do know that Acura is a branch of honda, right? And the thing about "Dancing all over cars", the EX has a single overhead cam 1.6l motor. Your car has a DOHC VTEC 1.8l motor. And welcome to the board.

Hey well welcome to the board and congragulations on your teggy. First the 94-01 is considered 3rd gen. yes the tail lights will fit. And i think you can only get the tan cloth interior from the 97. Best thing to do on this forum is to search man so get the searching and you will find alot of info you gonna need good luck!

yes i know that acura is hondas luxuray division, and yes i know what motor specs my EX and my GSR had. Im just saying as far as ECU codes and chasis codes and **** like that i dont know the Integras like i did hondas. and the comment about me dacing all over cars, i ran 16 flats in my EX at sea level pretty much stock with a few common bolt ons. cars like b16 hatches and celica GT-S and especially my friends blown 2.4 Z are all cars that i walk all over now, im just saying its nice to have a car that doesnt need a whole lot of major motor work to be competative And thanks for the welcomes ill post picks as soon as I get it out of the body shop.

I don't think that is correct. Aren't GS-R's DOHC 1.7L motor? Not 1.8L. 1.8's belong to the GS, LS, and RS models.

No, you are wrong. 90-93 gsr's were 1.7. But all the 94+ motors are 1.8.
