could do that or mill your head if your just going for higher CR and just stick with a OEM 3 layer.

I heard the mugen and spoon head gaskets were close to the same if not the same as just removing the middle layer of an OEM, not 100% sure on that one tho, anyone?

good point, i still say he should mill the head and stick with an oem 3 layer though. Probably alittle bit more reliable that route especially for a street car, i could be wrong though. I really shouldnt be posting, i dont know a great deal about head gaskets lol but you have my 2 cents anyway

Why you do you wan't a mugen or spoon headgasket? Just to bump the compression up a little bit? Or did you blow a head gasket and figured what the hey? If its apart, throw a thinner head gasket in it. Won't hurt anything. Make sure though if you blew a head gasket to take your head to a machine shop and have it surfaced. As far as answering your question. If they are different, you won't notice it. That's if you even feel much of an increase over OE.

if ur paying 86 bucks for an OEM one then your getting ripped off, goto http://www.manhonda.com, its probably like about 50-60 tops, thats how much they are for an h22 one anyway.

It litterally takes like 30 seconds to pop off the copper rivets holding the layers together and take out the middle layer.

This is just as reliable as a stock one, i've been running them for yrs w/o sealing problems.

Finally I totally agree, only do this if you have the head apart anyway, dont pull the head just to pull out a layer, that would be a total waste of time and energy,
