Default Grinding while downshifting

A friend of mines just finished putting a b18c-r into his ek and he had a grind while downshifting from 3rd to 2nd at mostly any rpm...and we're trying to figure out what can cause this grind......i would understand shifting up from 1st to 2nd to 3rd etc etc..from hard driving...but basically we wanna know what can cause this type of grind.

thanks

Bad synchro.

Learn to double-clutch.

In theory. But you'll need to replace it.

part is expensive, and the labor is equally expensive.

$500 in parts roughly for the synchro, gear, other **** you might need to replace while its apart.

Add whatever labor ($500 or more probably) and if you do a new clutch at the same time thats even more.
