Which is Worse?...
What is the worse thing to do (most harmful thing to do on an engine) while driving a Standard car?
Stalling?
Grinding Gears?
Starting in 1st gear?
"Jerking" the car?
(you may add more to the list)

Don't most cars prevent you from going into reverse when going above 10 mph?

I think he means start the engine with the tranny in neutral. It doesn't matter because when you step on the clutch (which you have to do to start the engine) it's basically in neutral anyway.

Honestly the downshifting thing isnt as hard on the tranny as it is on the actual engine. I'd say grinding the gears will help kill it quicker than anything other than not having enough fluid in it.
