D16z6 Power loss... fuel pump??
So I have a 93 coupe ex... 187k miles...
*ADD Kids get cliffs at bottom*
About a month or two ago I did my timing belt and found it had been previously done wrong (cam timing was off)... Once done the car had GOBS more power than it ever did before...
Well before I had a chance to even get my snows off my car... I hit a puddle and the car died out (it has happened a couple times... Just pull over dry off the distributer and it runs again (I don't have a splash guard)) This time I dry it off and it starts up fine and idles fine... but up top it runs like crap...
Lost ALL top end power.. the higher the RPM the more throttle.. the less power... Once vtec kicks in (if it even gets that far) it COMPLETELY drops out...
I have a MSD external coil with the mod. cap... I checked and re-did all the wiring for that... there's a little corrosion on the wires but nothing rediculous... made sure the cap seals properly...
Checked the plugs which were gapped to all hell (all over .070 (should be .043)) and they were whitish... which would make sense considering the gap... so I re-gapped them and replaced them the next day... car still has no top end...
I figure it's probobly in the fuel system somewhere... but I'm not sure.
I've checked the fpr (stock) it has 38 with the hose attached at idle... and 44 or so with the hose pulled and pinched... so that's normal.
In my helms it says the most likely cause of power loss would be the fuel pump... So I'm thinking this may be it... but generally don't fuel pumps just die... not putter out over time??
And this has been happening for a couple weeks... so I would imagine it would've died all together by now...
So anyway...
Any suggestions, personal experiences, or ideas appreciatted...

Cam timing was off, I fixed it, car ran like it never had before (much more power)... hit puddle... power gone up top. checked ignition components... all seem fine and or were replaced... still runs like poo poo up top...
the more throttle the less power... OH... and hills and my car don't get along at all anymore.

If your cat goes bad, your engine is the problem not the cat. You're dumping too much gas, oil, or coolant into your exhaust. Fix that or else any cat you put on there will go bad quickly.

Aftermarket cats are known for going bad...
The car was running both rich and lean for periods... but it went bad when everything was finally running good again...
I'm gunna find out what my cost is on a stock one and then most likely just end up buying another aftermarket one...
