LS/vtec or B20/vtec?
I was thinking about doing a swap, and I know that the transformation would take awhile, so I thought why not get a non-vtec engine first, then save up for a vtec head, and then turbo it last? (if that ever happens lol) For sure this would not happen overnight, but I was just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages were of each setup. Any help would be appreciated!
I did a search and I found the thread you were talking about. So the B20/vtec has more potential to make power as it has a bigger bore than an LS/vtec, but the LS/vtec is cheaper. Is that right, and is there anything that was missed? Thanks for the help!

you can try block posting/pinning or blockguard but its better to re-sleeve. if you're gonna re-sleeve you might as well re-sleeve an LS since the block is otherwise exactly the same and cheaper.

yupp. damned sleeves...
yupp. damned sleeves...
the b20 has only three sleeves compared to a b18a/b
the number two and three sleeves are one piece and thus are thinner due to the fact that the cylinder bore centers are so close together. for boost this is an unreliable thing and can cause fatigue wear after time
i say go with the LS beacuse of lack of immediate problems until you get it sleeved
also you have wayy more options for pistons with the LS over the b20 because of bore. there are tons of options for pistons for an 81mm bore when there are only two options for the b20 (these options i speak of are of coarse stock honda pistons)
