Default Track Times on Saturday, how to improve with my DC5?

Ok, I made like a billion runs. The reason for so many runs was because there was barely anyone racing, so I just went back into line. My mods are AEM V2, Comptech 4-1 header, custom 2.5" exhaust. I'm on stock tires. Outside temperature was probably in the 80s and humidity was high. Elevation probably less than 100 ft. Full interior except I removed the spare, jack, tools, and BOSE sub. This is also my first time racing on the strip. NOTE: wherever it does not show 60' times means that I was in the lane with the sensor down (spectator lane).

Run #1 (after an hour of cooling down from driving to the strip, no slip)
15.35 at 93 MPH

Run #2 (no slip)

Do you think with better tires and a CAI I can run in the 14's? I don't really want to run a CAI because I live in Hawaii with lots of rain. I am thinking I can use a stock intake arm and reroute it and put a filter on it just to run at the track.

Definately new tires, the stock ones suck. But rather than drop the money into a CAI I would just save up for Hondata. With the Hondata flash you would be into the 14's easy.

Get some motor mounts/tires/cai and you'll see 14's easy.

Mmmm I am running just a injen short ram and 2 falkens in front I will probaly have about the same conditions as you had when I go to the drags this friday. I will post my numbers to compare and see if tires affect it that much. My goal is to break 14's.

I think the tires are a major factor. My 60' were crap because of traction issues. Good luck with your 14!

Your 60' times are horrid!!! 2.6 wow Are your tires bald dayammmmmmm Just practice your launch and try to get close to 2.1 to 2.2 in your 60' and that will easily get u into high to mid 14's, as someone said you will probably need new tires!

ps i wish i could get 15 runs in one night good ****!

i dunno if this will make u feel better or worse...but u should know that your car is very capable...of getting a lil lower time.
i ran my car on the 1/8 mile track with just h&r lowering springs i hit a 10.01
with aem cai and lower psi on stock tires (20psi) i ran a 9.6

with the mods u have ..u should do better...just practice. u can do it.

92 mph is capable of a 14.5 on a perfect run... higher 14's with some wheelspin, which is going to happen on the stock tires.

i say get a cold air. I have almost the same mods as you and my best time was 15.0 at 91 mph. My best 60ft was 2.30. AEM says the V2 performs better than their cold air system. This maybe true for the DC2, but definatley not for the DC5.
I was at english town last sat, my intake temp was around 110 degrees. So get the cold air that will make the difference, im currently in the process of getting one.

CAI, then hondata. Your car won't run properly if you have stock airbox with the hondata tune. It's designed for a CAI.

and like some other have said get the ES motor mount inserts. They really help wheel hop and definately help your launch.Only downside to them is the annoying cabin vibrations when you are stopped.

What he said. Try deflating your front tires below 30 psi for more traction. The car is capable of high 14's with a good 60 ft time. What were you launching at?

btw- Nice Type-S

Looks even better now, gotta update pics. I was launching around 3k. I got new rims with tires, but the rims are a little heavier than stock (Buddy Club P1). I still have my stocks. I should buy tires for them and use them for track.

Better tires will easily get you in to the 14s. I was running high 14s with my piece of garbage stock tires with an exhaust and intake. You just need to get a feel for your car when you're launching. You have a great reaction time, so it's just a matter of learning your car. Do what I did when I was first learning: Take your car to an empty parking lot, and practice launching. I went from running 16.1 (1st time at the track. Go about a foot and then proceed to burn the crap out of my tires) to 14.2 (new tires, ES motor mounts, exedy stage 2 clutch, and experience). Practice makes perfect.
