Now why would the stock tach be off by 500 rpm? so if it idled at 800 on the tach then it would really be 300.

what a ridiculous comment. I think what your trying to say is that it initiates at 5000, but the process of re-adjusting the timing and such doesnt take place for another 500rpm? No

My h22a engages at 5000rpm. I don't think that the tach is off. That was with a stock jdm p13 ecu.

mine engages at 4200, but that's with my vafc...anyways, stock, the iab's open at 4800 and the large cam lobe engages at 5200...but twistedbydezign was right when he said that the stock tach was off...more or less by about 300-500 rpm's usually...i know my stock tach says 8000 when the vafc says 7400...

Thanks for this info. I know that my car sounded kinda werid a little before vtec engages. That is after the IAB's opened.

It's good that my tach is off less than a stock prelude

yes the tach is off the higher you go especially once you get past stock redline. my VAFC reads 7400 when i'm almost to 8000 on my tach.
