D16 head? Repair or replace.
I may have bent a valve in my D16z6 do to timing belt snap. What are my best options.
A-repair current head
B-buy used head and swap it for current.( any performance gained by swapping Y8 head?)
C-? any other suggestions (I am looking to gain performance but on a budget)

If you swap with a y8 head, your distributor will not fit correctly--the bolt holes don't line up. I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT. My suggestion, if your valve is indeed bent, is to get a new valve and keep the head you got. If you've got money and want some more performance, get your head ported while it's off, maybe put in a new camshaft/valvetrain.
To answer your question--there are a lot of things you CAN do. It just depends on what you WANT to do.

With the head off any way, can I bump up compression with different gaskets. I plan to run N/A on the street, and squeeze on occasion, but mainly only the track. I am planing on tuning it with hondata with nitrous controls.
id probably replace the valve. if you have some loot you might be able to find a head in the classifieds that been ported and polished and whatnot for 4-500 bucks. the z6 and y8 gaskets are the thinnest ones made by honda for the d series afaik, so i think that to raise compression without new internals you would need to mill your head. be careful not to mill too much off, in case you have a nitrous mishap and need to resurface the head again.
it would probly cost more to repair the head then 2 pick a used one up.
besides how do you bend just "one valve? inherantly wouldnt you end up bending 2 valves at once considering its a 16 valve head with 2 intake and 2 exhaust valves per cyl?

you cant just get one or 2 valves .5 over... you would need the whole set, im tellin you, just get a used head, spend your money on something more useful, like a turbo kit, or save for a b series swap....
port and polish will help you, no matter if you are n/a or f/i. i dont think you will need oversized valves, but i would get at least a 3 angle re-cut b/c if your valves were bent they might have messed up the seats. i wouldnt pay more than like 150-200 for a stock head, and like 500 or so for a machined head.
