ok i have gone through with this every board that talk about this problem and on here a few times i have read about it for a while and done diffrent things to try to fix this problem. Im still throwing a code 22 i have change my vtec switch i have check the wiring and check my oil levels the only thing i can think of is.
A. maybe it has to do with my oil filter i herd that acura makes special filters that heat up or are smaller something like that.
B. my vafc controller is not hook up right even though i check it about 4 times or maybe i need to un hook it and re connect it?
If there is anyone out there with a apex vafc that has this problem and fix it please let me know how you did it.
the symptoms im having is that the check light wont come on unless im on the high way in around 3 or 4th gear in vtec other then that it generally does not come on.

what year is your ECU?
My buddy had the same exact problem. He didn't hook up the VTM wire cuz the directions on the Apexi instruction book didn't show it. But you need to! We are both running 98'-99' OBD2a ecu's. Apexi-usa.com has an updated manual on their site showing that this terminal needs to be connected. Go to Documentation/VAFC update and I used diagram WH-2. I just matched my ECU with their diagram to determine which diagram to use because they show '99's as WH-3 but my ECU is not obd2b. Either way, this update shows you where the VTM signal is no matter what ECU you are running.
If you are running the same ecu as me it's terminal 15 on terminal connector 31p, I believe the center connector. (my friend has my Helms) It's a blue/black wire, the vtec pressure switch. Page 11-40 in the '98-99 Helms manual.
Good luck!
