Weight

I have recently been experimenting with reducing the weight of my hatch to see what actual performance gains can be attained. Let me say, it makes a HUGE difference. I have weighed my car at three different weigh stations on various days, and the average weight has been 2050 pounds. This is a 93 dx hatch btw. This seems fairly accurate to me. My car has a b18b and integra brakes, no interior except the dash and a drivers seat. No carpet, sound deadening, headliner, nothing. The car pulls much harder through all the gears and the handling has improved as well. Braking distance was reduced. Needless to say, weight really does make a big difference. It is just how many creature comforts will you give up to go faster. I want to get the car under 2000 pounds, which I know will be possible. My question is, does 2050 pounds sound about right for this car with these few modifications and where else could I get a more accurate reading of the weight?

That sounds pretty good then. You lost 130-140 lbs and gained Teg brakes and a DOHC motor. Could look into carbon fibre/fiberglass hood and/or hatch if you're really wanting to lose weight; lightweight battery never hurt either.

The little dx honda battery is pretty small as is. What would be good to replace it with? Also, I plan on a cf hood and hatch but that is after my turbo setup gets done. Still just collecting parts. Looking at another month or so until that gets done. I also have front and rear tie bars and strut bars, integra sway bars, and the integra front tie bar. I figure those added another 40-50 pounds but are worth it. I have another five pounds or so to remove in sound deadening crap, and the windshield wiper motor and arms which is maybe another five pounds. Every five pounds adds up right?

The lightweight battery I was looking into only weighs 10 lbs vs. my 30 lb one, and I'm a weight ***** so of course I want it haha. Wheels and a hood will help out. Doors, the hatch, and windows are all nice, but you'd be compromising safety and comfort so that'd be a bad idea for a non-race car (I didn't know if it was a street car or not).

Oh it is a street car alright. It is funny to see people looking into the windows like wtf, where did everything go? Someone asked me yesterday if it was stolen. I have become a weight ***** now too after seeing what a difference a couple hundred pounds makes. Now if only I wasnt 200 pounds...Anybody know what the stock hatch door weighs? Seems pretty heavy.
