Default Stock Shocks and Skunk Coilovers

Has anyone run this setup for any period of time ? I searched but couldn't find anything specific...just trying to get an idea of what to expect, the car is going to be pretty slammed.

I had that setup for probably around a year. When I took the shocks off I had 2 completely busted, 1 with a leak and the other was fine. The ride was horrible, but not much better with KYB's. Now one of them is busted.

If you dump your car on almost any off the shelf shock, you are going to mess it up. You have to get revalved shocks with shorter pistons to run a slammed car the right way. Oh and yeah, it's going to be very bouncy.

Stock shocks don't have near the ability to dampen the Skunk2 rates (440/330) of the civics. KYB AGX's or Koni Yellows (with adapter ring) works very well as long as your car isn't "slammed". The ride is firm, not bouncy.

I have no problem with KYB AGX's, I'm just not a fan of Skunk2's. My car is low, but not that low. I could dig up a picture.

I would go with Ground Control and Tokico's if I had to do it again. Unless you had the money to get a true coilover, then I would go that route. IMO diffently worth the money if you have it.

I'm planning to go with KYB or Illuminas in the future just might try the stock shocks to get by for a month or two...I only drive the car maybe 20 miles a week so we'll see how long before it blows up on me, should be fun. I completely expect it to not last very long based on everyones experience. If it's bouncy as hell I'm tearing them out immediately, not having that.

by slammed I mean less than a finger gap all around, maybe not slammed by everyone's standards.

i have 3 finger gap on mine the shocks prolly have 150K miles on them but everything was clean underneath(IE, never messed with) and its really really bouncy:: do it once do it right!!! the only reason i didnt .. is i dont really care at this time and they were free

Arospeed coilovers with stock shocks. Been riding like this for over a year and a half. No complaints.
