scat rods? anyone with experience, or crower econo billets
Rebuilding my motor, bought another set of eagles, but having seconds thoughts with the 5/16 bolts. I am not that worried about the rod itself, but the bolts just bug me, The crower econo billets look just like the eagles to me, but I know they have the 3/8 bolts, I was wondering if anyone is running the scat's, and what bolt size the have. Or if anyone has anything bad to say about the econo billets, looking at about a 450hp buildup. Thanks
There are couple threads asking the same question.

Thanks for the links, I had never heard of scat as another word for crap, they are a pretty serious player in the aircooled vw industry, and their products are top notch. My main concern was if they had the 3/8 bolts, which that was answered in one of the links, still torn between spendingt the extra 100 and getting the crowers, or being different and trying the scats, and saving some money too.
Erick's racing using crower econo billet rods.
He runs his motor to 10,500 and says that he doesn't have any stretching or bolt issues
Should be good enough for you.

From what i have heard, scat has been making their parts for domestic cars for a while...their con rods come with the arp bolts already...they only weigh 30 grams more than the stock gsr rods as well. i havent had any bad experience with them

Scat rods, at least on a/c VW's, use a 3/8" ARP rod bolt, and they are fairly strong.
I am seriously considering getting them to start making H23 rods....but yeah, I would use them. They've proved their worth in the VW scene.
