H22/EG in car won't start, but ran last week?
Hello all-
I am trying to finish up this car for someone and the damn thing wont start. I will give you what has happened between when it ran last and now. IT was running last week, but the water pump was leaking, so I pulled to motor and installed and new gasket in the water pump, no its doesn't leak. I put the engine back in the car yesterday and it wouldn't start. It would crank just fine, just wouldn't fire off. I thought it could be the timing, so I dropped the motor again, and the timing was so freaking off, so this morning I set the timing back to service manual specs. I hooked everything up, and I still get no firing off. It will crank all day, but won't start. One thing I do find very strange is that you can spell gas when cranking it, but there are no leaks in any of my new hoses. Any ideas? I have installed the following parts to the engine: AEM rail, AEM reg, 370 injectors, 190lph Fuel pump, B&M fuel pressure gauge, iridium plugs, accel wires. I am really at a lose here, and need to get this car done. IF ANYONE is in the bradenton/sarasota/tampa/st. pete area that has expertise in this, please let me know. I will pay someone at this point to come down and help me get this thing done. Any advice on the forum would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Check your spark plugs, make 100% it's injecting fuel. Then check for spark.
Take a spark plug, put it into the spark plug wire, and put it on a part of the motor (like the distributor mounting area) and have it cranked and check to see if it sparks.
Make sure the timing is set at 16° as well.

I will check the plugs in the morning. Dont know if that is it, since it was running just a couple of days ago. Only thing different is it was pulled out of the car and put back in.
Unfortunately I don't think you can adjust the timing if it isnt running, am I right (not sarcastic, truely checking)?
THank again. Anyone else with input it is appreciated.
