Default LS rods Vs stock D16 rods, a TRUE replacement?

ive read up that if i get the LS rods to go into a d16, that i would need to modify them slightly and grind here and there

how much truth is there to this? i was under the assumption that its a DIRECT replacement and that no mods would be needed.

also i would assume stock d16 rods are lighter than the LS rods, if i dont plan on making more than 160 hp, but plan on making it high revving ( 7500-8000) would simply shot peening them be enough?

i talked to my builder about it, i also did a bit of research about as well.
aside from machining the big end of the rods to fit on a narrower crank journal you have to re-bush the small end for a D series wrist pin. the only way to mate the rods and the pistons would be to have the wrist floating, which means either aftermarket pistons or machining OEM pistons. i analyzed the cost involved and decided that ARP rod bolts would be enough for my application

define "home garage"
if you have a lathe, milling machine a press and precision measuring instruments then yes.
