Default Diagnose this: Clutch or Tranny Problem?

What do you guys think the problem is?

I keep trying 3rd gear pulls up to 8K rpm...and when I try shifting into 4th...won't go into gear. Twice I haven't been able to get it in gear...and somehow after retrying to yank it in 4th...it shifts into 2nd gear Luckily...motor is still fine.

Just sucks that tranny/clutch issues can be expensive.

I'd like to think I'm shifting right. Never had this problem before.
