ls/vtec question
can someone tell me what head is best for ls/vtec? I hear about a lot of people using a b16 but I just want to make sure. If I do go through with this I will be milling port and polishing and better cams with cam gears, does anyone know of anyother ways of getting a decent amount of power I don't want to go turbo just yet. thanks

i think you meant to state the opposite. GSR heads slightly raise compression.
5litereater... there is hardly any difference at all between the B16 and ITR heads. if you plan to build up a head, the B16 may be the better choice as you arent paying for the R parts you wont need anyway. I myself went with an ITR head because i no longer had any future plans of using more than the ITR head could give me.

I'm running ls/vtec right now. I've got a GSR Head, however I had Portflow do all of my valvetrain for me, therefore i have a superhead. I rev to 9.5 and its ******* awesome. If I were you go b16 if you're going to keep it the way it is.
Reliability issues in LS/VTECs have nothing to do with the head (I mean as long as you don't screw up building it). It's all in the bottom end and doing it properly.
Not every thing i kno is wrong i just not sure, now another question ls/vtec motors, somebody told me that they dont last as long there like hybrid motors is that ture or what?

I'm pushing just over 20,000 miles now on my rebuilt LS/Vtec that i drive 50-60 miles daily of mixed stop-n-go and freeway traffic. i do try to stick by 3000 mile oil changes and popping the hood occasionally to make sure everything still looks right. my only complaint about daily drivability is on my 15 year-old car and the remaining, aging parts.
if you want to build an ls/vtec, have it built or build it right the first time and dont be scared of it. just dont drive it likes it's invulnerable either.
