Supercharger for speed trails and autocross?
So I crossed over and got bit by all the canyons and road courses. I want more power. Who doesn't. I am considering supercharging the car (vortech) but am very concerned about heat issues being that I'll be running for more than 14 seconds and closer to 20 minutes. Has anyone here ran a supercharger here and what was your experience or what is anyone's input on this? Thanks.
I instructed in a Prelude with a JRSC at Lime Rock last week. It seemed to hold together fairly well. Plus it gained on an Evo on the straights. Honda with torque, wierd, but fun. Make sure you have the suspension, brakes, and tires to work with the big increase.
The Vortech tends to add power at the very top of the powerband. That can be worked with on track but does not make for a very good autox car. I suggest and intercooler, serious cooling system, and good oil cooler setup.

Only thing of note with the Jackson Racing SCs I've seen twice now their stock filters bases coming apart. Batouttahell had his basically come apart and alot of aluminum base went missing. This weekend I also found a crack on Vactor's filter while telling him about Bat's problem, glad I took the minute to mention it to him.
