what would you pay for shell?
a buddy of mine is sellin his 4th gen dx hatch shell, w/ b16 tranny, tsudo cat-back, steel braided brake lines, cross drilled/slotted rotors up front, and rear disc conversion, and b16 motor mounts...the car does have a good bit of rust, one spot is rusted clear through...what would you pay?

I don't consider that a shell, a shell has no engine in it. Depending on how bad the rust is and what condition the engine is in, I would say around a grand.

Chill out I miss read it, ok so a b16 short block goes for 500, do the math. If the car has that much rust already, I would think about buying the car and parting it out. Did you check the frame out on the car ?

its gotta straight frame, and a lil bit o rust. if i buy it, first thing to do would be to drop it off at the body shop to get all the cancer removed and a new paint job...ive seen shells go for 300 and up, but since this one has the tranny and a few other goodies, i didn't know what to expect to pay...also, he is a good friend so i'm not tryin to rip him off or anything, just lookin for a fair deal...thanx

Up above you said it had a "good bit of rust" Either way if you or your friend can use a MIG and find either some decent quarter panels at a junk yard or use some sheet metal you can fix the rust pretty easily, just takes time. I just spend the whole winter de-rusting a crx, everything from floor pans, sideskirts, quarter panels, to a hole in the cargo area.
If you can post up a pic to show the rust, if it's not bad then go for it, if it is then either expect to pay a lot to get it removed (and i mean a lot) or spend a few weeks grinding/welding/sandin/priming/etc. and then get it sprayed.

You have to start saving these cars, because they are getting hard to come by year after year

I have a 88 hatch Shell that I started at 500 two months ago cleaner than that car ,and I still can't move . I would take 300 for it . The local junkyard will take it for nothing I might just strip and save the parts for my 91. I just hate to because the shell is clean. Good Luck with yours
