Vtec question
Ok i just got done with my swap about 1 week ago. Up until yesterday i was running open header, and of course vtec engagement was loud. Yesterday i had a greddy sp catback from a 96 prelude fitted onto my 92 four door. My question is why is my vtec not as loud as all other b16's? I am running a prelude stock intake with a aem filter on it. I mean you can here the vtec engage but its not like what other b16's with intake's sound like. Not as loud. It is almost as quit as a b16 with a stock air box. Any ideas on what is making it quiet? And i don't now if this matters, but it is a SiR II.
Have you got a pod filter fitted? The VTEC engagement screams if you do. Also if you don't have a pod and want big noise - remove the plastic piping attached to your airbox - it does get a little bit of cold air from under the bumper - BUT.... it's mostly for noise reduction - like a muffler. Even louder still - bore out the whole into your airbox - K&N filter panel replacements make it breath harder - almost as good as pod.
