Please tell me we're being trolled.

VTEC isn't a BOV. VTEC isn't an afterburner. You're running a cat back on stock piping. You're running a stock intake. No, it isn't going to be loud, period.

Thanks, now my coworkers think im a lunatic

Serious though, if VTec engages, it's working, Don't expect warp speed.

warp speed? i always go plaid when vtec kicks in.

if you can hear it, it works. but that pinching is bad. take pics of it. and most likely replace those sections.

Money says the pinching is from OP either slamming his car, or jumping it and slamming the ground.

Take a picture of the damage and post it up. But VTEC isn't the kick of nitrous that some people think, and if your car is unmodified, it won't be very loud either.

I have an actual bone stock (survivor) 2000 em1 . I can hear vtec engage at 5600 rpms. If you are not hearing a change over check your oil also if the engines cold it might not engage.

If you can get it past 5600 RPMs there's nothing wrong with it. I've never heard of "weak" VTEC. It either engages or it does not.

Of course, everyone knows that the louder your vtec is the faster your car is.

It's possible your high lobe isn't engaging. Do you have and check engine lights on? How's your oil level?

On a stock car with no header or intake and a quiet exhaust like the Evo2 your Vtec will be quiet. Remember cars are made to be as silent as possible, most consumers dont want a loud car.

you have 2mm more of piston in comparison to even the biggest stock vtec motor. so of course yours hits hard.

LOL, glad you guys liked that pic.

Anyway, VTEC should be a smooth transition. You are making the most amount of power on the primarly lobes until the very last second, then the cam switches to the higher profile and builds power.

If you are hearing or feeling a big difference in VTEC you aren't properly tuned. On a stock car you really shouldn't be able to hear/feel it. If you have bolt ons the transition is louder and can be heard.

Considering the car has an improper exhaust setup it will definatly hinder performance. Take pics of the exhaust. Sounds like you have a crush bent system that may be too small for your motor.

I literally just got home from work and was thinking about this post. I put my Em1 into vtec numerous times on the ride home. To me, vtec engagement is very distinct and loud. I can hear clearly when it switches. My car is stock. If you cant hear your vtec engage its probably not switching over, or your music is too loud lol
