Default Sounds like a bad ignition switch to you?

So my car started making a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound and starting to cut out so I pulled over on the side of the highway. I couldn't think of what was wrong so I tried to start it a bunch of times. I was looking at the key and noticed when I put it into the II position no dash lights light up. So I thought that was weird. I turned the key slightly more and the lights came on yet the key was in the start position. So I turn more and the car cranks. So I figure out that if I turn it until it cranks and starts and than turn it back enough so the start turns off I can get the car to stay running. So in rush hour traffic I have to drive my manual transmission car with one hand shifting and steering while the other holds the key in the exact spot to keep it from dying. I assume this means fucked up ignition switch. Do you agree?

Right now the key to my car is 3 pieces of wire twisted together, I have to hot wire the bitch to drive it.
