Are type R valvesprings and retainers strong enough for S2S2's?

Default Are type R valvesprings and retainers strong enough for S2S2's?

I am looking for some valvesprings and retainers and found a seller with type R valvesprings and wanted to see if they are strong enough?

i've seen it done.. but.. don't do it.. later on you'll run into some problems (coil bind) either run the skunk's.. or you can purchase some portflow inners and use the ITR outer's (springs).... or try Rocket's stuff ... hope that helps.....

Retainers yes, valvesprings not exactly. They will run perfectly fine under VTEC, but once you get that 12.2mm lift in VTEC your springs will have a chance of binding, which isn't what you want. I wouldn't risk it when perfectly able valvetrain components can be had for under 300 for a complete set.

Really? Don Corleone? Anyways wrong.

Back to some helpful info. Cams such as Skunk Stage 2's, JUN3's Crower 3's have extremely harsh ramps and require more than stock ITR and GSR spring pressure to adequately control the valve motion. Otherwise all sorts of bad things will happen like pulling the valve thru the retainer, hammering the valve job, stem tip mushrooming, cam wear.

rocket, will itr intake outer springs, itr retainers, with portflow inner springs be capable of taking on skunk2 stage 2 cams?

Yes, I've seen that set-up work fine to 8700 rpms with similiar cams.
